Apple reduces production of iPhone SE 3, iPhone 13

Apple may be reducing its production in view of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and Russia and rising inflation. The American company is planning to cut down production of iPhones and AirPods substantially, in order to weather out the low-demand period.

Apple’s decision to cut down production has been reported by Nikkei. The report quoted people who are in the know of the matter. According to the report, Apple will be reducing the production of iPhone SE 2020 and iPhone SE 2022 by 20 percent. The report claims that this is the first sign of the Ukraine crisis impacting a mega tech company. The looming inflation crisis also has an impact on the weak demand.

The iPhone SE 2022 was launched earlier this month. Just weeks after the launch, the tech giant is cutting down its production order by about 2 million to a total of just 3 million units for the entire quarter. The Nikkei report claimed that even AirPods production is going to be axed by a massive 10 million units for the entire year. This move has been taken to counterbalance the low demand as well as to get rid of the existing inventories.

Even the iPhone 13 series is looking at a cut in supply. According to the report, Apple may be looking to cut down the production of a couple of million units of the latest iPhone 13 series. However, this move has been labeled as an adjustment due to seasonal demand.

The ongoing chip shortage also continues to make things worse. All three factors, looming inflation, Russo-Ukrainian War and chip shortage could signal an upcoming crisis within the tech industry but not exclusive to it. The PC market and Automobile market may also be staring at a downturn for the rest of the year.

Apple’s new iPhone SE 3 is the first budget 5G smartphone from the tech giant. Apple’s A15 Bionic powers the phone and it is also found in the iPhone 13 series. Apple is aiming at first-time iPhone users with the new SE 3.

Apple’s affordable Iphone SE 3 old 24 million units in the year of its launch and has seemingly prompted the company to reduce the launch time for its successor. It took four years for Apple to launch a successor to its first iPhone SE, but the next edition could be arriving in 2022, likely in the first half of the year.

A report from It Home suggests that the iPhone SE 3 (or the iPhone SE 2022 as it might be called) could be entering trial production soon and that the phone is expected to launch in the first half of 2022.

It also claimed that multiple component vendors were preparing to ship the iPhone SE 3, so it sounds like things are really ramping up. For what it’s worth, one previous leak said the iPhone SE 3 would land in March, which could probably line up with what we’re hearing here.

Similar specs to the current model

This report also adds some claims about the iPhone SE 3’s specs, largely echoing earlier leaks in saying that much like its predecessor, the device is likely to sport a 4.7-inch Retina HD LCD display, with a fingerprint sensor embedded in the home button.

In other words, there would be no Face ID on the upcoming device, with Apple seeming keen to offer this only on the flagship range.

The report additionally points to an improved 12MP rear camera, possibly using a new sensor, along with an A15 Bionic chipset (much like the iPhone 13 range) paired with an external X60M 5G baseband chip. Finally, there might be 3GB of RAM, much like the last model.

Interestingly though, the report also mentions that there could be a larger-screen iPhone SE Plus with 4GB of RAM. There are aren’t any additional details on this phone here, but it’s something we’ve heard rumored before, though details remain thin on the ground.
