Vueron Technology, a leading South Korean provider of LiDAR perception software and autonomous driving technology, and Innoviz Technologies (Nasdaq: INVZ), a leading provider of high-performance, solid-state LiDAR sensors, and perception software, will collaborate to develop an autonomous driving platform for LiDAR-only self-driving vehicles.
Vueron, which is known for its cutting-edge technology, secured one of the few self-driving licenses granted by the South Korean government in January. Following receipt of the permit, Vueron completed a 414-kilometer, fully automated, LIDAR-only drive at a top speed of 100 km/h from Seoul, the capital, to Busan, the southern port city. During the entire five-hour historic trip, the mandatory safety driver on board did not hold the steering wheel at any point.
“At Innoviz, we’re excited about overcoming the challenges of autonomous driving and getting the most accurate and highest-resolution LiDAR to market,” said Omer Keilaf, the company’s CEO and co-founder. “Vueron’s high-performance LiDAR perception software impresses us, and we value their unique understanding of the South Korean automotive LIDAR market.”
The combination of Innoviz’s LiDAR and Vueron’s software enables a precise and dependable LiDAR solution that meets the needs of customers in this area. We’re excited to collaborate with Vueron and help them pave the way for autonomous driving in the future.”
Vueron CEO Joseph Kim said, “We are pleased to partner with Innoviz and use their solid-state LiDAR sensor, InnovizOne, in our autonomous vehicles.” “We consider InnovizOne to be the industry leader in LiDAR technology and design, and we enthusiastically recommend it to our colleagues.” Both companies were lucky to have the same early-stage investor, Naver, and we’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate Innoviz on its recent NASDAQ listing. We look forward to working with Innoviz LiDAR in our applications for ADAS, autonomous vehicles, industrial protection, IoT, and surveillance systems for many years.”
