KasmVNC v0.9.3 has been released by Kasm Technologies. KasmVNC is an open source web-native rendering technology that streams desktop, application, and web containers to the browser. The v0.9.3 release includes improvements to performance, security, and usability. KasmVNC provides streaming support for Workspaces container images. While the term VNC appears in the name, it is not intended to be RFB compliant and has different goals than other VNC projects:

  • Web-based – Intended to provide a remote desktop that is accessible via the internet. It includes a web server and a websocket server. Simply run it and navigate to the URL of your desktop on the port you specify.
  • Cybersecurity – According to the RFB specification (VNC), the password field is limited to 8 characters. KasmVNC uses HTTPS with HTTP Basic Auth by default and disables the legacy VNC authentication method for added security.
  • Simplicity – Because it is web-native and agentless, it is simple to deploy and configure.
  • Deb packages for Debian, Ubuntu, and Kali Linux & RPM packages for CentOS, Oracle, OpenSUSE, Fedora.
  • Relative cursor and cursor lock support (game pointer mode).
  • IME support for languages with extended characters.
  • Enhanced mobile support.
